REGIONAL dance AMERICA
California Dance Ensemble is a proud member of Regional Dance America, a national organization of pre- and semi-professional dance companies divided into five geographic regions. Its purpose is to encourage and develop young companies with high artistic standards and to offer dancers additional performing opportunities. Each Spring, Ensemble dancers travel to participate in a Festival with other member companies of the Pacific Region where they attend master classes during the day and participate in performances in the evenings.
Evaluated in 2022, California Dance Ensemble is the only company from the Los Angeles area to be accepted into this organization. In 2023, CDE was proud to present two works at the regional festival in Reno, and present the Outstanding Junior Classical Soloist.

This spring, CDE will be very well represented at the National Festival in Daytona Beach, Florida in April, and will present the Ensemble piece Renegades – workshopped at the 2023 RDA National Choreography Intensive, where Mr. Robbin was invited as a Project Tier Choreographer – as well as two Outstanding Soloists in the Senior Division, Classical and Contemporary, and an Emerging Choreographer’s work*.
*Not all dancers attending the annual festival are selected for works that are being adjudicated. It is the sole decision of the RDA Pacific Adjudicator as to the arrangement and selection of works to be performed by member companies at the upcoming festival.
At these Festivals, company dancers have the opportunity to:
• Attend Master classes with some of the country’s leading professionals
• Audition for numerous tuition and cash scholarships to some of the country’s top summer dance programs
• Perform at the Festival, both in their group pieces and, if selected, as Outstanding Soloists.
• Be seen by college & university recruiters as well as artistic directors from all over the country
• Attend the National Choreographic Intensive or Training Program. All RDA member company dancers are automatically accepted into these summer programs.
